SKF GE..TXA..2LS Series Spherical Plain Bearing: This series is classed as maintenance free radial spherical plain bearings. Comprising of sliding contact surfaces of hardened and ground chrome plated steel against PTFE impregnated fabric these spherical plain bearings are fitted with heavy duty triple seals and require no maintenance. Application: Suitable for very heavy, constant direction loads, where low friction is required; limited suitability for alternating loads, shock loads. A characteristic of SKF steel / against PTFE impregnated fabric spherical plain bearings is the intentionally split outer ring in this case axially spit and held together by a single retaining spring clip around an annular groove in the outer raceway or in some instances bolted together. This greatly improves ease of assembly in many instances however care needs to be taken when mounting spherical plain bearings with a fractured or split outer ring, it is essential that the joints are positioned at 90 degrees to the direction of load.
